Scotland fans shower Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home with Christmas groceries

Scottland FC supporters association ploughed back to the community by donating Christmas groceries to Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home in Bulawayo, yesterday.

The initiative is a continued effort to support youth development highlighting it’s commitment towards making a positive impact and the significance of inclusivity in marginalized communities through goodwill.

The Scotland FC Supporters Association’s generous donation consisted of sugar (10 packets), rice (10 packets), mealie meal (2kg x 2), flour, Mazoe (6 packets), cooking oil, roll-on deodorants (18 units), salt (10 packets), sanitary pads (6 packs), and baked beans (12 cans), spreading joy and comfort to the children.

Rev Newman Kolobe, Director of Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home, applauded the Scotland FC Supporters Association for their unwavering support and for remembering the children during the festive season.

“We would like to that the association that they have remembered us, to provide groceries and we are are going to have a colorful Christmas. We are glad that they came to motivate the boys as well because they like to play football.”

“We also encourage other organizations to take corporate responsibility to help the children living in difficult circumstances. We appreciate the gift and it will come to benefit us not only Christmas but also the next month,” said Rev Kolobe.

Mr. Abdul “Preacher” Monjesa, Information and Communication Officer for the Bulawayo chapter, underscored the importance of bringing joy to the children.

“A smile comes from the warmth, we have brought a combined effort as Scottland byo supporters to make this donation, us as a family. We are also calling upon everyone to join hands and make the children smile,” he added.

Emthunzini Wethemba Orphanage, situated in Mzilikazi township, provides a loving home to children aged 4-18years. Founded by the late Reverends Mr. and Mrs. Ndoda, the orphanage continues to care for vulnerable young lives.

Chairman Thabani Gumbo issued a call to action, urging other clubs to foster unity and renounce hatred and violence, thereby promoting a peaceful and harmonious environment.

“We encourage other clubs out there to come as one, desist from violence and promote inclusivity, by ploughing back to the communities,” said Mr Gumbo.

The Scotland FC Supporters Association’s initiative extended to the Mzilikazi community, where they donated sanitary pads to girls and women in need. Cases of pads were left at the Mzilikazi Youth Centre, ensuring a lasting impact and providing ongoing support to women in the community.

Ms. Monalisa Moyo, a resident of Makokoba, expressed sincere gratitude upon receiving a pack of sanitary pads, acknowledging the thoughtful gesture with appreciation.

“We would like to thank the Scottland family for their kind gesture and remembering us this festive definitely these sanitary pads can last meaning that I won’t have to buy for the next coming months,” said Miss Moyo.
