MP calls for caution and peace during festive season

By Thembelihle Mhlanga

Lupane West Member of Parliament, Honourable Mxolisi Charles Sibanda, has urged motorists to exercise caution as they transport travellers to their homes for the Christmas and New Year festive holidays.

In a statement made at a community gathering, Sibanda emphasized the importance of road safety during this busy time of the year.

“Motorists must be vigilant and responsible on the roads,” said Sibanda. “The festive season brings an increase in traffic, and we want everyone to arrive home safely. Let’s prioritize the safety of our families and friends.”

In addition to road safety, the MP addressed the issue of violence, calling on his constituents to celebrate peacefully. “We must shun violence during this time. The holidays are a time for love and togetherness, not conflict. Violence is not an option, even in the face of grievances,” he stated.

His message resonated with many in the community who echoed his sentiments. Local resident, Mrs. Thandiwe Ndlovu, expressed her support for the MP’s call for peace. “I agree with Honourable Sibanda. We should celebrate joyfully and in harmony, especially during the holidays. Violence only brings more pain to our communities,” she said.

Another resident, Mr. Tinashe Moyo, highlighted the need for motorists to remain cautious. “It’s easy to get carried away during the festive season, but we must remember that our lives and the lives of others are at stake. I appreciate the MP’s reminder,” he noted.

The call for peace and safety comes amidst ongoing concerns about road accidents and violence during festive periods in Zimbabwe. Sibanda’s appeal aims to foster a spirit of unity and care among his constituents.

As families prepare to celebrate the holidays, the hope is that they will heed the MP’s advice and contribute to a peaceful and safe environment for all. “Let us celebrate responsibly,” concluded Sibanda, “and make this festive season one to remember for the right reasons.”
