Community unity takes center stage in Tsholotsho South

Umguza Ward 16 in Tsholotsho South constituency ended the year 2024 on a high note, with a thrilling tournament celebration at Stanhope grounds. The event, which brought together community members from all walks of life, was a testament to the power of sports in fostering unity and social cohesion.

According to Ward 16 Councillor Obert Mangwana, the tournament was a deliberate effort to promote community unity and social bonding.

“We wanted to create a platform where community members could come together, have fun, and celebrate our diversity,” Cllr Mangwana said in an interview with Community Podium.

The tournament, which featured a range of sports and games, was a resounding success, with hundreds of community members turning out to participate and cheer on their favorite teams. “It was amazing to see people from different backgrounds and age groups coming together and enjoying themselves,” said Councillor Mangwana. “This is what community is all about, building relationships, fostering unity, and promoting social cohesion.”

Member of Parliament for Tsholotsho South, Musa Ncube, also hailed the tournament as a major success. “I am thrilled to see our community coming together like this,” she said. “Sports have a way of transcending our differences and bringing us together, and I am proud to see our community embracing this spirit of unity and togetherness.”

As the community looks to the future, Councillor Mangwana is optimistic that the tournament will have a lasting impact. “We hope that this tournament will be the start of something special a renewed sense of community and social cohesion that will continue to grow and flourish in the years to come.” Umguza ward 16 falls under Tsholotsho South due to delimitation process.
