Early Heroes’ Day treat for Beula in Matobo

Beula residents are in for a special treat this Heroes’ Day with a soccer extravaganza followed by live performances by popular musicians Clement Magwaza and Mcebisi “Amathongo Amahle” Mlilo.
The excitement kicks off on August 10th at Beula Stadium in Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province, with a 12-team soccer tournament open to any interested team in the area. Football clubs can join the competition for a registration fee of R500.
“The event is envisioned as a family fun day,” said Mcebisi Freedom Mlilo, the tournament spokesperson, in an interview with Community Podium. “It’s a chance for people of all ages to come together, socialize, and enjoy some exciting soccer matches before unwinding with live music.”
There’s plenty of incentive to compete! The winning team will take home a cool R4000, with prizes also awarded to the runners-up (R2500), third place (R1500), and fourth place (R800). Even teams that don’t reach the top spots will walk away with something, as the fifth and sixth-place finishers will receive R500 and R300 respectively.
The festivities continue after the final whistle. Mlilo explains, “Once the tournament concludes, the crowd can enjoy live performances by the bands. Entry for the music portion of the event is R40 for adults and R20 for children.”
Beula has never seen anything like this before! This extravaganza promises to bring a whole new energy to the usually peaceful village.
