Covid 19 fatalities drop

On 28 July 2021, the number of deaths related to Covid 19 dropped as 60 individuals succumbed to the virus, representing a significant fall from the unprecedented 107 deaths declared a day earlier. However new infections rose to 1 856 new cases even though the 7-day rolling average for new cases fell to 1 778.
Matabeleland provinces recorded 18 deaths. Covid 19 claimed 14 lives in Bulawayo, 3 in Matabeleland South and a single death was reported in Matabeleland North.
However, Matabeleland North recorded the highest number of new cases at 136, followed by Matabeleland South at 116 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, and lastly Bulawayo recorded the least with 94 new cases.
The most recoveries from Covid 19 were itemized in Bulawayo (358). Matabeleland North registered 150 recoveries while there were 38 people who beat the virus in Matabeleland South.
A total number of 40135 received their first dose yesterday, bringing the cumulative for those who took their first dose to 1562 285 while 18 466 received their second dose which therefore brings the cumulative for the second dose to 713 131.
Government has advised parents to complement its efforts to provide PPEs ahead of the reopening of schools.
To date, Zimbabwe has recorded 103 567 cases, 71 383 recoveries and 3 340 deaths.
