70 Zanu PF MPs purpotedly axed from Parly
One Tafadzwa Manyika who claims to be the interim secretary general of Zanu PF has written to Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda purportedly recalling 70 Zanu PF legislators from parliament on account of the 70 having ceased to be members of the ruling party.
“Kindly be advised that the following Members of the National Assembly were elected under Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) political party, and have ceased to be members of the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front:”
Among the purported axed 70 are Sithembiso G Nyoni (Nkayi North), Musa Ncube (Tsholotsho North), Richard Moyo (Umguza), Albert Nguluvhe (Beitbridge East), Fisani Moyo (Gwanda Tshitaudze), Farai Taruvinga (Insiza North), Spare Sithole (Insiza South), Edgar Moyo (Matobo), Levi Mayihlome (Umzingwane), Judith Ncube (Bulawayo Women’s Quota), Tinashe Tafadzwa Mushipe (Matabeleland South Youth Quota), Barbara Rwodzi (Chirumanzu South, Flora Buka (Gokwe Nembudziya), July Moyo (Redcliff), Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa (Hunyani), Jenfan Muswere (Makoni West), Owen Ncube (Gokwe Kana) and Paul Mavhima (Gokwe Sengwa).
The letter dated 12 October proceeds to advise the Speaker to act according to the dictates of Section 29 of the Constitution.
“Kindly proceed in terms of the relevant provisions of the Constitution of Zimbabwe relating to members who have ceased to be members of a political party which they were elected under.”
Obert Mpofu is the known Secretary General of Zanu PF.
All eyes are on Mudenda who responded promptly to a similar letter by “interim Secretary General” Sengezo Tshabangu who successfully recalled 15 CCC MPs and 9 senators. The party says there is no such post in the CCC and maintains that Tshabangu is not a member.
Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi sprung to Mudenda’s defence, telling the media that it is not Mudenda’s burden to verify recalls and that if the opposition had any grievances it must approach the courts.
