Vic Falls NGO bails out PWDs

VICTORIA FALLS – A Victoria Falls non-governmental organization, Rotary has once again came through for the Victoria Falls community, this time, donating much needed wheelchairs to people living with a disability.
In addition to offering scholarships, the organization’s philanthropy has also been extended to building toilets and drilling boreholes in Hwange district.
Rotary is in partnership with Free Wheelchair Mission who are based in Harare. It has also partnered with Rotary Club in Victoria Falls in its drive to help the needy.
The organization donated over 45 wheelchairs to children and adults so as to ease mobility of persons living with a disability.
One of the grateful recipients was Priscilla whose legs are twisted and cannot carry her to walk. Her grandmother Jennifer Moyo hailed Rotary for its efforts and thanked the organization for the good gesture.
“Priscilla cannot walk but she is a very intelligent young person. Whenever l fell sick, she couldn’t attend school since l am the only person who could go with her. I always felt that her condition was a burden to teachers as they would have to carry her to rest rooms and other places at school. I would love to thank Rotary for such a wonderful gesture. This will go a long way in making lives of people living with disabilities easier,”said Moyo.
The District Medical Officer for Hwange, Dr Fungai Musiname nee Mvura, thanked Rotary for the donation they made.
“Over 45 wheelchairs have been given to children and adults. We appreciate Rotary for this gesture. It will help people living with a disability in a big way,” she said.
Vicoria Falls Mayor, Somveli Dhlamini gave an impassioned vote of thanks which underscored the significance of the donation in helping the community.
He added: “We thank Rotary for giving out the wheelchairs. This will make enhance the mobile of PWDs.”
The director of Rotary Club, Mercy Masala took joy in dispensing the wheelchairs.
“It is our pleasure to donate wheelchairs. These are given at free cost. We realised 70% of PWDs from Hwange district needed help. We hope our donation will make a difference,” said Masala
