Lulu clinches two awards at NJAMA awards
A Bulawayo based journalist and senior reporter at Centre for Innovation Technology (CITE) Lulu Brenda Harris walked away with two awards at the National Journalism and Media Awards (NJAMA) in Harare Thursday night.
The awards are organised by the Zimbabwe Union of Journalsists.
Harris won the Gender and Social Inclusion Journalist of the Year award and she was also a runner-up for the Environment Journalist of the Year Award. She produced an investigative story on the massive pollution of the Deka River in Hwange as a consequence of mining activities in the area.
Harris told Community Podium that the awards are a springboard towards achieving bigger things.
“It feels motivating to have one’s work recognised and be marked as a hallmark of professionalism, which is what I strive for as a journalist every time I write articles or gather news and engage with sources. For me, I take this as a stepping stone to continue working and producing credible content for audiences.”
The Zimbabwe Union of Journalist’s annual event ran under the theme: Media Sustainability and National Development.
