Pelandaba family sleeping in the open

A family in Pelandaba West, Bulawayo has been stranded and sleeping in the open for the past three weeks after being kicked out of a room they were renting due to failure to pay rent for the past five months.
Pelandaba West Residents Association leader, Nobuhle Dlamini told Community Podium about the family’s plight.
According to Dlamini the family defaulted on rent payment since December causing the landlord to throw out their property.
“As a leader, I am saddened by such a developments. To make matters worse, her husband eloped and left the mother and three kids to their own devices. In desperate conditions like these someone needs their loved ones to give them hope for light to shine but she is all alone with her young children. This publication visited the spot and found her belongings lying outside the house. A neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity said the sleeping arrangements are the family’s worst nightmare given that robbers are on the loose in the area.
” Uyavula impahla zakhe ahlanganise umbheda wonowu omisiweyo lesofa ukuthi kungani lidumba alale labantwana kodwa kaphephanga ngoba lapha kugcwele amasela asengamlimaza ebusuku njengoba kungowesifazana kuphela kungela muntu oyindoda,” she said.
Bulawayo Residents Association chairperson Ambrose Sibindi appealed for the spirit of ubuntu to prevail among tenants and landlords.
“We advise tenants to make efforts and pay the agreed amounts on time but there are delicate situations where landlords have to adopt the spirit of ubuntu especially in cases where minors are involved because it takes a village to raise a child. How does one sleep knowing that there is four months’ old who is stranded on the streets. It turns out to be a child abuse case where a minor sleeps in the open as the cold is soares especially around midnight, I can only imagine the baby’s situation.”
Mr Sibindi called on Bulawayo residents to put their hands together and assist her in raising the $125 she owes her landlord.
