MMCA prepares for King Mzilikazi annual commemoration

The Mthwakazi ‘Ka’ Mzilikazi Cultural Association (MMCA) is gearing up for the upcoming King Mzilikazi Annual Commemoration.
The event, which aims to honor the legacy of the iconic Mthwakazi king, is scheduled to take place on 7 September 2024.
Prince Mazilankatha Ncube, the spokesperson for MMCA, confirmed that preparations for the commemoration are in full swing.
“The groundwork is largely complete, and the team is now focusing on the final touches,” he said, adding that they will soon be sharing a detailed report.
The commemoration is expected to attract thousands of people from across Zimbabwe and beyond.
“We are honored to have the Khumalos (the Royal House), traditional leaders, and representatives from various sectors join us for this significant event,” Ncube highlighted.
To ensure that everyone can participate, MMCA has organized buses to transport people to and from the venue. However, the organization is appealing to the corporate world and individuals for additional support to accommodate the expected large turnout.
On the day of the commemoration, attendees will participate in a cultural parade from Matshobana to Bulawayo City Hall. The main event will take place at a designated venue, featuring entertainment, speeches, food, and beverages. The celebration will showcase the diversity of Mthwakazi culture, reflecting King Mzilikazi’s legacy as a unifier.
MMCA has been utilizing various advertising platforms to reach a wide audience.
“We are using print media, social media, radio, television, posters, and flyers to spread the word about the commemoration,” Ncube explained.
The organization expressed its gratitude to the partners who have supported the event as Ncube highlighted that they will publicly acknowledge their contributions on the day of the commemoration.
The King Mzilikazi Annual Commemoration promises to be a memorable event that will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Mthwakazi.
