Manhunt for suspected Tsholotsho wife and neighbour murderer

On New Year’s Day, Shepherd Nkomo, a 38-year-old man from Mgogodleni in Tsholotsho, Matebeleland North Province, allegedly murdered his wife and a neighbor, shocking the community.
As per the confirmation of Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector, Glory Banda to Community Podium, the tragic incident unfolded late on January 1, 2024.
Allegedly, Nkomo accused his wife, Gretude Ncube, 36, of infidelity, leading to a heated argument. During the confrontation, Nkomo assaulted his wife with an unidentified object, prompting her to flee to their neighbor, Mhlanga Bahono Mkhiza, 83, for refuge.
Nkomo, driven by rage, pursued his wife and continued the assault at Mkhiza’s residence. When Mkhiza tried to intervene and restrain Nkomo, the suspect turned on him, striking him with a log on the face, causing fatal injuries that resulted in Mkhiza’s death at the scene. Realizing the severity of the situation, Nkomo fled the scene.
Concerned neighbors found Ncube still showing signs of life, but sadly, before they could rush her to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
Inspector Banda expressed deep concern over the incident, urging citizens to uphold the value of human life and avoid resorting to violent behavior that leads to unnecessary loss of life.
The police have launched a manhunt for Shepherd Nkomo, and members of the community are urged to assist with any information that may lead to his apprehension.
