Lupane West MP blasts Govt workers

Thembelihle Mhlanga

The Member of Parliament for Lupane West, Honourable Martin Khumalo had no kind words for the government workers who still have their Mat North Provincial offices housed at Mhlahlandlela Government complex in Bulawayo.

Speaking at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development’s Programme for the Economic Reforms Roll Out Mat North Provincial meeting Hon Khumalo said that he hates the prevailing situation as workers who are supposed to be serving Mat North are still clogged in Bulawayo in spite of Lupane having been long declared a provincial capital and is supposed to have been weaned from Bulawayo a long time aback.

“I hate all those who are still working from Mhlahlandlela, they are the very people who delay the completion of provincial government projects in Lupane. Let me remind them in case they have forgotten that Bulawayo is a stand alone province and Mat North is not a district in Bulawayo Province” said Hon Khumalo.

Hon Khumalo went on to say that all the projects in Lupane will not see the light of day as long as the workers and departments are not willing to move to Lupane, the Mat North provincial capital.

Speaking at the same meeting the Chief Director for the Ministry of Finance Mr Clive Mpambela said that as a Ministry  they would want to see the Lupane projects expedited to completion.

“These projects were started long back and in this programme we have embarked on we want to see them completed in a short time soon so that the workers come down to serve people of Mat North at their provincial capital” said Mr Mpambela.

The Lupane projects that include Lupane Provincial Hospital, Government Composite and Lupane State University were started in 2004 and up to now are still incomplete.
