Covid 19 new cases, deaths continue on weekend downward trend

As at 18 July 2021, Zimbabwe had 83 619 confirmed cases, including 53 453 recoveries and 2 622 deaths. To date, a total of 1 144 379 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
In keeping with weekend trends, he past 24 hours have seen a decline of new cases and deaths as 1 006 new local cases and 34 deaths were recorded today.
Mashonaland West continues as the leading hotspot with the highest number of new cases.The province recorded 238 new cases, an increase from yesterday’s record. Mashonalad East recorded 151 new cases, Manicaland 121, Bulawayo 111, Harare 93, Midlands 70, Masvingo 63, Mashonaland Central 63, Matabeleland North 60. Matabeleland South recorded the least new cases at 36.
3 876 tests where done and the positivity rate stood at 26%.1 530 new recoveries where recorded and the recovery rate stood at 63% hence a fall on active cases to 27 544.
12 043 people received the first jab bringing the total cummulative number to 1 144 379 while 1 765 received their second jab bringing Cumulative for 2nd dose to 641 154.
