CPC issues warning on recalled product

The Consumer Protection Commission has issued a dire warning following a product recall of the 50ml single-use neutralizing shampoo contained in the Dark and Lovely Moisture Plus Kit.
The recall was prompted by the presence of bacteria which may pose a risk of scalp infections, particularly for individuals with compromised immune systems. The National Consumer Commission (NCC) of South Africa conveyed this urgent notice from the COMESA Competition Commission.
In a statement, the Commission emphasized the critical importance of public safety and urged anyone in possession of the affected product to cease using it immediately. Consumers are further advised to return the product to the point of sale for a full refund. L’Oreal, the manufacturer, has proactively initiated the recall process.
“This recall is a necessary step to ensure consumer protection, in adherence to our statutory obligations,” stated a representative of the Consumer Protection Commission, citing Section 15 (I) (e) of the Consumer Protection Act.

Zhou, the Compliance and Investigations Manager at the Consumer Protection Commission, highlighted the seriousness of the situation: “It is crucial for consumers to heed the recall notice and discontinue the use of the affected product. We are committed to providing assistance and information to address any concerns.”
