Bulawayo City Council begins installation of street cameras in the CBD

The City of Bulawayo Corporate Communications Manager, Nesisa Mpofu, in a statement today said that they are installing street cameras in the Central Business District in line with the parking management contract Tendy Three Investment Parking Solutions (TTI).
She highlighted that TTl has started the process of installing street cameras on various roads in the city.
“The cameras will be used for the parking management project, mainly to monitor the marshals and enforcement teams in the execution of their duties,” said Mpofu in a statement, adding that the Cameras are also meant to monitor movements in the parking management project area.
The Cameras are being installed in a phased approach with the first phase covering Five Street to Robert Mugabe Way and it is anticipated that the entire project area in the CBD will be covered with Cameras.
Motorists and Bulawayo residents have welcomed the project, sharing the sense of security and protection the installation of cameras will bring.
Khumbulani Moyo, a motorist shared that the Camera system will eliminate parking corruption and eliminate crime in the city.
“There are cars that are not paying parking fees because the driver will negotiate parking space with the marshal and a lot of criminal activities are taking place, the new system is going to reduce crime rate in the city,” he said.
A Bulawayo resident, Emily Khumalo says the Cameras will help to reduce crime rate in the CBD.
“We hope that these Cameras will be used for their intended purpose. Definitely, crime will reduce in the city. This is a welcome development as it is long overdue. BCC and TTI have done a good job as this means less crime rate,” she said.
