NFT foster social mobility and economic growth through inclusive education

In a bold move to promote equality in education, Gwanda based organisation Nkomwa Foundation Trust has embarked in an initiative to empower marginalized communities with access to educational resources and facilities in the region.
The local organization has ensured that all individualsls have access to quality learning opportunities, regardless of their backgroudor , socio-economic status anaimsng to bridge the gap between privileged and underprivileged communities.
Nkomwa Foundation Trust Director, Mr Pick Nkomwa emphasized that providing equality to marginalized groups is crucial, as it enables them to access equal opportunities in society as education is a key driver to success.
“Education support is one of the thematic pillars of Nkomwa Foundation trust. Thus from onset the organisation aims at transforming and changing narrative of the persons with disabilities life. Education is the key that unlocks opportunities thus we believe equipping persons with disabilities will enhance a better disability community.”
“We identify the students through our disability awareness campaigns we conduct in remote areas. We Advocate for education rights for PWDs,” said Mr Nkomwa.
Mr Nkomwa appealed to other organizations and individuals to join in supporting initiatives that benefit children lacking essential resources, citing their proven positive impact.
“We are open for collaboration and partnership by either individuals or corporates or organisations. We have a significant number of learners in our database. Those willing to adopt a child are welcome.”
“We are available at our office,send email or call. We are ready to serve communities. No donation is small even a pencil transform a learner with disability,” he added.
Inside the 2025 first term school calendar, Nkomwa Foundation Trust has made a tangible impact on the lives of numerous learners, six learners from Beitbridge District received stationery, enabling them to pursue their education with dignity. A child from the same district was provided with a wheelchair, empowering them to commence their educational journey.
The organization facilitated the enrollment of a learner from Mantanangombe ward 16 in Gwanda at Mzimuni High School’s boarding facility. The trust also assisted 15 children with disabilities from various districts, including Insiza, Beitbridge, and Gwanda, with essential school items such as books, pens, and uniforms.
Five deaf learners were also supported to begin their educational journey at JZ High School. In the vocational training sphere, 12 trainees from various districts were assisted to commence their career studies at Jairos Jiri Vocational Training Centre in Bulawayo.
The organization recently donated essential school supplies to Musawenkosi Nkomo, a Grade 7 pupil at Lortondale Primary School, supporting her educational journey and alleviating her family’s burdens.
Musawenkosi, who lives with her deaf mother and two siblings, received a generous package consisting of a satchel, school shoes, exercise books, a jersey, uniforms, socks, and various stationery items, including pens, khaki/plastic covers, and cellotape.
The initiatives demonstrate the organization’s commitment to promote support for students with disabilities and special needs, inclusive learning environments, access to quality educational resources and facilities therefore fostering social mobility and economic growth.
