Zanu PF captures majority control over Parly’s Portfolio Committees

The ruling Zanu PF has taken control of 15 out of the 22 parliamentary portfolio committees in Parliament. The main opposition CCC salvaged 7 of the parliamentary portfolio committees.
Chairpersons of parliament committees are selected through consultations in the political parties. The number of seats won determines allocations of committees to the parties in parliament.
Parliamentary committees monitor and review proposed laws and scrutinize government policies and actions to guarantee legality and conformity to constitution.
These committees research, consult stakeholders, and come up with policy recommendations.
