Women in Binga celebrate capacitation funds from WCOZ

Women in Binga are expressing their gratitude for the capacitation funds they received from the Women Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCOZ). This organization is dedicated to empowering women by providing financial support for their projects, enabling them to become more independent and self-sufficient.

Plaxedes Mawuto, the district chairperson for WCOZ, highlighted the significant impact of this initiative. She noted that for years, women have faced discrimination and economic dependency. The capacitation funds aim to bridge this gap, allowing women to take charge of their financial futures.

“This initiative is there to bridge the gap regarding the issue of women waiting for men to give them money for buying all household necessities,” Mawuto stated.

Beneficiary Pedzisai Munenge shared her appreciation for the program, emphasizing its role in promoting independence among women.

“This initiative will go a long way in curbing gender-based violence because we will be doing projects as women without waiting for men to give us money at the end of the month,” she said.

This sentiment reflects a broader shift in mindset, where women are reclaiming their agency.

Judith Mutale, another beneficiary, echoed the positive sentiments, noting the dual benefits of the initiative.

“WCOZ has played a pivotal role in helping women run their own projects. This initiative will enable us to fight hunger and create jobs at the same time,” Mutale explained.
