Rudo Nyamusosera, a dedicated primary school teacher in Victoria Falls, is proving that one can carve their own path to financial security. While moulding young minds remains her passion, Rudo isn’t afraid to hustle. Recognising the limitations of a teacher’s salary in Zimbabwe’s current economic climate, she took a bold step – venturing into the world of trade. Juggling her classroom duties with managing a retail shop at Chinotimba Shopping Centre, Rudo’s story is one of resilience, determination, and a commitment to a brighter future.

“My entrepreneurial journey was fueled by a dual desire: achieving financial independence and providing my community with high-quality, affordable goods. Witnessing the struggles faced by the women around me, I felt a powerful urge to create opportunities – not just for myself, but for others as well. The current economic climate in Zimbabwe was a significant motivator, pushing me to find a more secure path for my family’s future,” said Rudo.
“It’s definitely demanding,” Rudo admits with a laugh, “but I’m coping well. Teaching is my calling, but I’ve always had this entrepreneurial spirit. I wanted to create a safety net for my family and build a sustainable future.”
Her shop caters to the everyday needs of the community, offering a carefully curated selection of groceries and clothing. “High-quality products at affordable prices,” explains Rudo, “that’s my motto. I want to enhance the shopping experience for my customers while improving the lives of my own family.”

The impact has been undeniable. The business has not only provided financial security but also a sense of freedom that Rudo never thought possible. “Witnessing the struggles of women around me,” she shares, “ignited a fire in me. I wanted to create opportunities, not just for myself, but for others as well.”

Rudo’s vision extends far beyond a single shop. She dreams of becoming a prominent entrepreneur, a force to be reckoned with in Victoria Falls and beyond.
