Tsholotsho North Member of Parliament, Libion Sibanda, urged constituents to work together for developmental progress. He made these remarks at Ward 1 (Gxobohobo) Councillor Witness Khumalo’s victory celebration, elected in August 2023.
“We are in times of drought, so let us work together and help each other so that we don’t die of hunger. Let’s all cooperate in participating in developmental projects,” said Sibanda.
Sibanda emphasized active participation in projects like borehole drilling, farming, and School Development Committees. “We must be very active, we must grab every arising project with both hands.”
Councillor Khumalo promised to serve the people’s interests. “You no longer have to worry about traveling long distances to council offices. You did yourselves a favor by bringing that office here. I’m here to assist you by every means possible, so please don’t hesitate to come to me.”
Leader Welshman Ncube, Collet Ndlovu (Bulawayo Senator), Thandaza Dube (Secretary for Women Affairs), and CCC National Executive Member Nyoni were also in attendance where Ncube urged Khumalo to serve the people and avoid corruption. “We expect you to work for the people every day, tirelessly. Do not be involved in corruption, that’s when being a crook starts.”
Ncube also encouraged party leadership to remain focused amid internal struggles. “Barking dogs and wolves will never stop the moon from moving, remain steadfast, focus on what your people elected you for,” said Ncube.
The CCC has a strong council presence in Tsholotsho North, controlling 10 out of 13 wards.
