Cumulative Covid 19 deaths rise to 2 747
As at 20 July 2021, Zimbabwe recorded 2 683 new Covid 19 cases, 50 Covid-19 related deaths and 2441 new recoveries.
11 254 tests were done and the positivity rate was 21.7%.
This brings the cumulative covid-19 cases to 88 415, 58 155 total recoveries and 2 747 deaths.
Mashonaland west and Harare province had the highest infection rate yesterday recording 397 and 373 new cases respectively.
Midlands recorded the lowest daily infection rate of 103. Masvingo had 257 new cases and 0 recoveries yesterday. Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South recorded 262, 213 and 213 new cases respectively while recording 122, 148 and 134 recoveries respectively. The capital city had the highest recovery rate at 833.
Harare, Hurungwe, Chiredzi and parts of Bulawayo including Emakhandeni still remain Covid-19 hotspots in the country.
Total active cases in Zimbabwe stand at 27 518 and the country has recorded a 66% recovery rate.
1 447 494 people have taken the first dose of the vaccination being rolled out while 649 843 have taken the second dose.
Level 4 lockdown measures remain in place. The Ministry of Health and Child Care is appealing to members of the public to get vaccinated, mask up, maintain social distancing, hand wash and make use of sanitizers.
