The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has released the results of the 2023 Ordinary Level Examination, with a total of 270 121 candidates writing the exams.

ZIMSEC Board Chairperson Professor Eddie Mwenje announced the results at a press conference in the capital today, 22 January 2024.

The results will be accessible online through the ZIMSEC portal from 1500 hours. Candidates can access their results through the ZIMSEC website www.zimsec.co.zw.

Professor Mwenje cautioned candidates not to attempt to access the portal before 1500 hours as they risk being locked out of the system.

Physical copies of the results can be collected from ZIMSEC regional offices, also starting today. Heads of Examination Centres will be able to collect the results for their respective schools/centres from ZIMSEC offices on Monday, 22 January 2024. The portal will remain open for only five days, after which candidates who have not collected their results will need to visit their schools or the regional offices.

The overall pass rate for 2023 is 30.19%, demonstrating an impressive over 4% improvement compared to the 2022 results. Professor Mwenje attributed this improvement to the hard work and dedication of both candidates and teachers.

“Despite the challenging circumstances posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ZIMSEC was able to conduct the examinations smoothly and efficiently. The council’s commitment to ensuring the integrity and credibility of the examination process has resulted in these positive outcomes.”

ZIMSEC encouraged candidates to use their results wisely and to pursue further education or training.

The council also recognized the support of parents and guardians in the success of their children, and expressed gratitude to teachers for their tireless efforts in preparing candidates for the examinations.
