Bulawayo MPs unite to support Ingutsheni Hospital

In a powerful display of unity and shared purpose, six Bulawayo Members of Parliament came together to donate 13 bags of rice to Ingutsheni Hospital, a vital institution that provides love, care, and rehabilitation to over 650 patients in need.

The MPs, Hon. Desire Moyo (Nkulumane), Hon. Prince Dube (Entumbane), Hon. Tendai Nyathi (Lobengula/Magwegwe), Hon. Nomvula Mguni, Hon. Lungile Ncube, and Hon. Sikhuphukile Dube, highlighted the importance of collective effort in ensuring the dignity and wellbeing of all citizens, including the most vulnerable.

Hon. Desire Moyo emphasized the spirit of collaboration, saying, “Ingutsheni serves patients from all our constituencies. This is a shared responsibility, and together, we can make a meaningful impact.”

Hon. Prince Dube reinforced the need for inclusivity and compassion, stating, “As leaders, it is our duty to ensure that every corner of our community is cared for, including our brothers and sisters at Ingutsheni. Supporting the wellbeing of these patients is not just a gesture of kindness but a step toward true inclusivity and compassion.”

Ingutsheni Hospital, established in 1908, is the largest psychiatric hospital in Zimbabwe, with over 700 beds, and has been providing specialized psychiatric care since 1933 . The hospital has a daily average in-patient population of over 600 patients and attends to an average of 2400 patients per month.

The donation symbolizes the collective commitment of Bulawayo leaders to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey toward a better, more inclusive society as Hon. Sikhuphukile Dube underscored,

“Every patient at Ingutsheni is part of our community, and their welfare reflects on us as leaders. Let us continue to support one another, ensuring that our actions build a Matabeleland where care, compassion, and progress are felt by all, including those facing health challenges.”
