Sibanda focused on tourism, infastructure and water in Binga

Member of Parliament candidate for Binga North Constituency in Matabeleland North representing Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Prince Dubeko Sibanda has said tourism, infrastructure development and water availability are his top priorities should he win in the upcoming election.
In an exclusive interview with Community Podium, Sibanda also added that a CCC government would be a blessing to Binga given the party’s determination to be inclusive.
“We believe this new incoming CCC government of the CCC will prioritise the development of Binga infrastructure. If we improve our road network and connect Binga, Gokwe, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls and Karoi, tourism would be a boom in this part of the country,” said Sibanda.
” We also look forward to tapping water from the Zambezi so that people can have access to clean water and also have access to water that they can use for agriculture.These are the major plans we have as a government in waiting,” he added.
Sibanda who has been a member of parliament for Binga North since 2013, said he prides himself in knowing that since he came into parliament he has brought Binga into the limelight.
“We have built dams, schools and clinics in the constituency. Binga has also become a centre of attraction in terms of tourism visits. Tourism has actually increased, the rate of visitors in Binga has increased, the rate of inquiries of people wanting to come to Binga has increased. That increment has helped in sustaining some form of employment for our people,” he said.
Sibanda said he has been able to raise the concerns of the people of Binga, which date back to 1958 when their grandparents were removed from the banks of the Zambezi river in order to facilitate the construction of the Kariba dam.
“During our stay on the banks of the river we practiced agriculture throughout the year as we were cropping on the banks of the river and our livestock also had access to unlimited water supplies. We could also get fish from the river. When our ancestors were removed from the river and dumped in the bushes, there was no development that was done, no infrastructure was put in place. The authorities promised to bring water to the people but that has not been done.
We can’t rely on boreholes for agriculture hence the permanent solution is for the Zambezi River water to get to the communities. Water from the Zambezi should not be serving communities that are far away before it serves communities living within the banks of the river.For us, that is the focus and through representation I have been able to highlight that our community has been marginalized for a long time,” said Sibanda.
Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (FAZ) Chairman, Kudakwashe Munsaka of Zanu PF will face off with Sibanda for the Binga North seat.
An opposition stronghold since 2 000, Binga borders with Lupane and Hwange in Matabeleland North and Gokwe in the Midlands. It is endowed with wildlife and good quality soils.
