Jambezi mourns “guardian of culture” Chief Shana

The Jambezi community is in mourning following the untimely passing of revered traditional leader, Chief Shana, born Jonah Zondani Neluswi Shana, who succumbed to an undisclosed illness in the early hours of today.
According to sources close to the family, Chief Shana had been hospitalized at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo for a month, where he was receiving treatment for his condition. Chief Sianchali of Binga confirmed the sad news, stating that he would be notifying the government of the bereavement.
Villagers in Jambezi have expressed shock and grief at the loss of their beloved chief, with many describing him as a pillar of strength and a champion of cultural heritage. Mr. Joseph Ncube from Zwigamba village fought back tears as he paid tribute to the late chief, saying, “We have lost a father figure, a guardian of our culture, and a unifying force in our community. His passing leaves a huge void that will be difficult to fill.”
Headman Simon Zondani Chabwa, who was mentored by Chief Shana, described him as a fountain of knowledge and wisdom, saying, “He groomed me into the leader I am today, and his guidance on cultural and traditional matters was invaluable. His passing is a huge loss to our community.”
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, but the community is expected to come together to bid a fitting farewell to a leader who dedicated his life to serving his people.
