SRC official steals porridge

An official at the Sports and Recreation Commission(SRC) has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing porridge from a local non-Governmental organisation.
Mr Leonard Mwale of New Stands in Lupane was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to 24 months of which 6 months were suspended on condition of good behavior.
The accused, between 15 July and 27 August 2020, unlawfully broke into the Cyvat, a community based charitable organisation’s offices housed at the Kusile Rural District Council building, and stole the E-Pap porridge.He would sell part of it and consume the rest. He, however, ran out of luck when the manager Isreal Nkomo discovered the offence.
A report was made to Lupane Police following which investigations implicated Mwale. Mwale would sell the supplementary porridge and other foodstuffs to the locals.He was convicted by the resident Magistrate Ndumo Masuku, while Clive Gumbo being the prosecutor.
