Netone employees nabbed for fraud

Luck finally ranout on four Netone employees when the law finally caught up with them as they were arrested by police for fraud.

The suspects, Primrose Maireti (32), Khumbulani Nyapfumbi (30), Simbarashe Mandimutsira (27) and James Mwanza (35), allegedly stole pinless credit airtime from Netone Cellular Private Limited and sold it at a higher discount to airtime dealers.

Police detectives worked hand in hand with Netone Loss Control and Fraud Management Unit leading to the arrest of the suspects.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) National Police Spokesperson Paul Nyathi, more that 5 million ZWL worth of airtime was stolen between 3 December 2022 and 19 January 2023.

Nyathi said during the investigations, it was discovered that one of the suspects, Khumbulani Nyapfumbi had bought two Honda fit vehicles and a residential stand worth 11 thousand USD from  proceeds of the loot.

Nyathi assured the public that these suspects will face justice for their misdeeds. 

“The ZRP will ensure that these company employees and their accomplices face the full wrath of the law for their fraudulent activities,” he said.
