MRP sets date for elective congress

The Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) has set a date for an elective congress which is part of efforts to reinvent and reshape the party’s identity, structure, and vision for the future.
In a statement released by the party’s interim secretary for information and publicity, MRP says this transformation is geared toward strengthening the party’s constitutional framework and revitalizing its internal dynamics.
To kickstart this remodeling process, the MRP will hold an Elective Congress on April 27, 2024. Preparations for the Congress are well underway, with the party urgently seeking resources to meet the necessary requirements for a successful event.
”On the 27th of April 2024, the party will hold an Elective Congress, and all is now set for the successful Congress except for resources which we are calling upon all party members and stakeholders to support us to meet all the necessary requirements for a successful Congress.
We are hoping that members of the party will fully participate in electing the leadership of the party.
On the 18th and 19th of February 2024, the NIC and the PECs will hold a meeting in Bulawayo to finalize on all the necessary details , and official statement will be published as part of the way forward after this upcoming meeting.”
The party is encouraging members and stakeholders to lend their support to ensure the Congress’s smooth operation. In preparation for the Congress, the National Interim Committee (NIC) and Provincial Executive Committees (PECs) will meet in Bulawayo on February 18-19, 2024. This crucial gathering will finalize essential details and issue an official statement outlining the path forward.
The MRP aspires to emerge from the Congress as a more robust and unified political entity. Party members aspiring to participate in the Congress are urged to purchase their membership cards.
”The party has invested in an electronic membership card printing machine and anticipates receiving a laptop soon, thanks to the generosity of committed members and well-wishers.”
To lay the foundation for the party’s transformation, ”Cde Moyo in South Africa and Cde Malinga in the UK have been tasked with reviewing key party documents, including the Constitution, Manifesto, and party policies. This review process will ensure that the MRP’s guiding principles align with its renewed vision and objectives.”
Campaigning for party positions will officially commence in early March and continue until the Congress. Contested positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Organizing Secretary, Treasurer General, and National Chairperson. Additional positions will be filled by the presidium in consultation with party structures, based on nominations from the provinces.
The party’s NIC will appoint a dedicated Congress Committee, following the agreement reached during a previous meeting in Bulawayo on December 21, 2021. This committee will manage the administrative aspects of the Congress, while a team of respected leaders from Matabeleland will oversee the voting process.
In a bid to broaden representation and incorporate diverse perspectives, the MRP will request each province to nominate three individuals of their choice to become members of the National Executive Committee. Additionally, the party recognizes its functional Charters in Botswana, the UK, the USA, South Africa, and Ireland, along with individual members worldwide who lack formal structures.
MRP will also hold similar elections for the Youth and Women Leagues on the 27th of April 2024 to elect national leadership.
