Mangwe rural district councillors geared to improve service delivery

Recently sworn in councillors from Mangwe rural district in Matabeleland South have expressed their readiness to improve service delivery and uplift rural livehoods.
Speaking to Community Podium councillor Mpendulo Ncube from Matobo-Mangwe constituency in Ward 17, who won under a ZAPU party ticket, said a lot of plans were underway to positively transform his community.
“Together with community members in my constituency, we are planning to build a Secondary School and a Primary School for children to have easier access to education. Many children walk long distances to school and this demotivates them from furthering their studies,” said Ncube.
He added that during his tenure, he will work to end water challenges.
“There is a dam which was dug in 2000 but it hasn’t been completed so we will work together with villagers to ensure its completion. My area is like a desert and water for both villagers and livestock is a challenge therefore the community stands to benefit from the dam,” said Ncube.
Another councillor Peter Ndlovu from Zimnyama Small-Scale Farming Community in Ward 12 under Citizens Coalition for Change said he will continue with his developmental projects.
“This is my third term as councillor for Ward 12 and I want to continue with what I have been doing for my constituency which includes Macingwane village, Sikhulu village, Zimnyama Small Scale Farming Community and Mahulula 2 which was incoporated into ward 12 due by the latest delimitation exercise,” said Ndlovu.
“In my previous term I built Ngabulane dam in Matoleni village and a state of the art clinic in Macingwane village. We also completed Zimnyama clinic which was opened two weeks back. Additionally we embarked on feedlot projects which were sponsored by the Food and Agricultural Organisation and right now the projects are 75 percent complete so I want to ensure that by the end of my five year term those projects are completed,” said Ndlovu.
Priscilla Moyo from Makhupho Ward 15 Mangwe representing the women’s quota under Zanu PF party said women’s livehoods will be uplifted during her term of office.
“I am prepared to advance women empowerment initiatives . I am planning to make sure women get access to boreholes. Since my party is the one in power I will take advantage of the presidential borehole scheme to lobby for more boreholes in my constituency to ensure women avoid walking long distances to fetch water,” said Moyo.
