Good Samaritans donate house to Tsholotsho floods victim

A group of well-wishers who hail from Tsholotsho based in Zimbabwe and South Africa, who call themselves ‘Good Samaritans’, have come true to their biblical name pooled resources to build a house for a victim of the floods that occurred last year.
The beneficiary, Mecline Ncube of Ward 10 in Tsholotsho expressed gratitude at the kind gesture that has been shown towards her family. “I would like to express gratitude towards all those who came through to assist me,” she said.
Due to the devastating floods, Ncube’s house was destroyed, potentially exposing her family to the vagaries of bad weather and wild animal attacks. I was a victim of the floods this past rain season. My house was destroyed and I was left out in the open with my children.
“After getting wind of my plight, fellow community members coalesced and pooled resources to build a stronger house for me. The house is nearing completion and I am humbled by the love and compassion shown by Councillors Jonathan Ndlovu and Esau Siwela who tirelessly engaged the well-wishers who are also known as ‘Good Samaritans.’ I hope they do the same for others who are in my situation,” said Ncube.
One of the leaders of the group, Mr Liberty Ncube said that the group hopes to continue assisting the community beyond Ward 10 in any way they can.
Ward 11 Councillor Jonathan Ndlovu encouraged the group to continue doing the good work.“I would like to appreciate these young men and women who are doing the good works by assisting the needy in the community. I am mostly encouraged by the fact that the group intends to help others who are in similar circumstances as Ms Ncube.” Councillor Ndlovu singled out Councillor Siwela for articulating the challenges affecting the community and appealing to the diaspora using the WhatsApp platform.
“Tsholotsho Rural District Council Chairperson, Councillor Esau Siwela has been very instrumental in bringing to the fore the challenges faced by the community thereby eliciting the response of the diaspora in the WhatsApp groups,” said Ndlovu.
