Exemption letters now mandatory

Government has announced that the country is readopting the 2020 lockdown measures  which included the requirements to produce  exemption letters for citizens going to town.

 Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Hon Mutsvangwa made the announcement in a post Cabinet briefing.
“The nation is advised that the exemption mechanisms which were used during the first lockdown in 2020 will be reactivated with immediate effect,” she said.

Mutsvangwa issued a stern warning to businesses that continue to contravene COVID-19 restrictions.
“Stiffer penalties will be imposed for violations of COVID-19 restrictions, including the withdrawal of  business operating licences,” she said.

According to Mutsvangwa, Cabinet, Ministers who visited several provinces past weekend made several findings which informed today’s resolutions. She added that Cabinet has directed Treasury to immediately avail a war chest to the tune of ZW368.2m towards enforcement of the Level 4 Lockdown.

“Funerals have become major spreaders, there is shortage of PPE and misinformation on vaccines. Cabinet has directed that Treasury immediately release ZW368.2m for full enforcement of Level 4 lockdown,” she said.
On schools, Mutsvangwa said the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is “working on modalities to enable a blend of face to face, remote,  e-learning, radio and TV learning in preparation for the opening of the 2nd Term.”
