CCC member up for assaulting war veteran

CCC member charged with assault on war veteran

A Plumtree based Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC)  has been charged for allegedly assaulting a war veteran at a bar.

Bongani Fara  appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on charges of attacking James Ndebele at a local bar in Plumtree.

According to the Prosecutor Voster Makuwerere, Ndebele was drinking beer with a lady friend on 10 September when Fara entered the bar and started accusing the war veteran of lying that he was his employer.

Ndebele furher accused Fara of threatening him by saying CCC activists will crash war veterans once they get weapons given that the population of the ex-combatants has dwindled.

Fara then allegedly poked Ndebele and removed his hat and threw it away.

Ndebele reported the matter to local police who arrested Fara. The matter continues in court  on October 30.

War veterans in Zimbabwe are largely associated with the ruling Zanu PF.
