CCC councillor to chair Tsholotsho Local Board
Ward 5 councillor for Tsholotsho, Ropheus Ndlovu has been elected Council Chairperson of Tsholotsho Local Board. He will be deputized by Church Ncube of Ward 17.
The local authority is a mixture opposition CCC and ruling Zanu PF councillors. Ndlovu polled 17 votes to Essau Siwela’s (Zanu PF ward 9 councillor) 11 votes in a poll that saw councillors voting on party lines. One vote was considered spoilt. Siwela was chaiperson during the last five years when Zanu PF had an overwhelming majority but the tables turned when the opposition gained numerical advantage courtesy of the August 23 harmonised election.
Next on the agenda for the Tsholotsho local authority is the election of chairpersons of committees. 18 CCC councillors and 11 Zanu PF councillors make up the board.
