Binga bus accident exposes lack of healthcare facilities, emergency services.
Five people died and several were injured after a Stallione Cruise bus overturned near Masumo Bridge, in Samende, Binga yesterday, laying bare the challenge of inadequate health facilities and emergency services.
By end of day 5 people were confirmed dead and many injuries reported from the accident.
A Binga resident, Pottar Muzamba revealed that passengers were trapped in the bus for some time
“The painful part is that the mortuary is not working. Bodies have been stored at police cells as if they are arrested. No fuel for ambulances to take referred people to Mpilo. Sad,” said Muzamba
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that a fatal road traffic accident occurred on Sunday morning near Masumo Bridge, Samende area, Binga in which a Stallion Cruise bus travelling from Siabuwa to Binga overturned.
“The ZRP confirms that five people were killed whilst the number of the injured is yet to be ascertained,” said the police in a statement.
