Golden Shine: Empowering Women and Cleaning Communities

In the heart of Magwegwe North, a group of five determined women has come together to form Golden Shine, a thriving business that not only empowers its members but also gives back to the community.
Led by Sukoluhle Ndlovu and Shupiwe Gama, the group has developed a unique floor polish made from a combination of melted domestos, stay soft containers, wax, and paraffin. “We mix it all together to create a product that is not only effective but also environmentally friendly,” explains Sukoluhle.
But what makes Golden Shine’s product truly innovative is its connection to environmental cleaning. “We collect old domestos and stay soft containers, melt them down to liquid, and then add wax and hadener paraffin to create our signature cobra floor polish,” says Gama. “By reusing and recycling these materials, we’re reducing waste and promoting sustainability in our community.”
But Golden Shine is more than just a business – it’s a community-driven initiative. “We use our product to clean schools, churches, and pre-schools in our area,” says Shupiwe. “We believe that a clean environment is essential for the well-being of our community.”
To ensure the sustainability of their business, Golden Shine has implemented a revolving fund system. “Every fortnight, we give one member $50 to help them grow their business,” explains Sukoluhle. “This way, we can all support each other and ensure that our business continues to thrive.”
As Golden Shine continues to grow, the group’s ambitions are clear. “We wish to be a very big company one day,” says Shupiwe. “We want to create jobs and opportunities for other women in our community.”
With their innovative product, community-driven approach, and determination to succeed, Golden Shine is certainly a business to watch.
“We believe that together, we can achieve great things,” says Sukoluhle. “No one can hear you without association – we are stronger together.” The group also includes Londekile Ncube, Racheal Nyoni and Tonse Phiri.
