Matebeleland South poet Dr Gasolo’s much anticipated Long Walk to Success which was set for 8 -10 August has been postponed indefinitely. Though the reason for this new development has not been communicated, Dr Gasolo said more details will be availed later.
In an exclusive with Community Podium, Dr Gasolo was meant to embark on the two days project of over 160 kilometres which would start from his rural area Matshetsheni in Gwanda and end in the City of Kings and Queens on 10 August.
When it materialises, “This year the walk seeks to contribute towards comprehensive awareness and advocacy on issues around drug and substance abuse. The walk also seeks promotion, protection and enforcement of creatives voices on the vulnerable and at-risk populations. The walk intends to increase access to information on drug and substance abuse full and utilization of creatives voices on rights, protection of information and services by citizens and also increase creatives participation and monitoring on issues affecting the creatives and communities”.
Dr Gasolo Long Walk To Success started in 2022 with Dr Gasolo walking over 160km from his rural home in Matshetsheni (Gwanda) to KoBulawayo as a sacrifice for the local artists to be recognized.
