Females top males

BULAWAYO-November 2021 Advanced Level results released by the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council show that female candidates outclassed their male counterparts.
ZIMSEC Board Chairperson, Eddie Mwenje, said female candidates fared better than males.
“The total number of female candidates who sat for two or more subjects in November 2021 A’ Level exams was 20 262. Of this number, 18 043 passed two or more subjects, yielding 89,04 percent, an increase of 3,24 percent points from 85,8 percent for 2020
The total number of male students, who sat for two or more subjects were 20 337 and 17 233 passed two or more subjects, which translate to 84,72 percent an increase of 4,61 percent points from 80.31 percent for 2020,” said Mwenje.
There was a 3.68% increase in the overall national pass rate as the female candidates’ pass rate rose to 3.64% while that of males also increased to 4.61 %.
A total number of 56 special needs candidates who fell under four different categories namely braille, enlarged braile, physical impairment, and hearing impairment sat for the national exam and achieved a 96.42% overall pass rate.
Mwenje took pride in that the 2021 A’ level results have been released three weeks earlier than last year’s results.
