Early Christmas for Hwange rural community

HWANGE- A Hwange company by the name, Zimbabwe Zhong Zhn Coking Company(ZZCC) has come through for Diki villagers by making donations as a way of ploughing back to the community of operation, just on the outskirts of Hwange Town.
Having previously donated an air conditioner to Lukosi Hospital which serves the community, 30 000 bricks to the council, of which 10 000 were earmarked for assisting in the building of a new clinic, ZZCC’s philanthropy was extended to providing food hampers for the community at the weekend.
The food hampers dolled out by the company consisted of mealie meal and cooking oil which were handed to the elderly, widows, orphans as well as people living with a disabilities. Village leaders were instrumental in identifying the most vulnerable members of the community that were prioritized by ZZCC.
Andreas Hlabangana, Assistant Plant Manager of ZZCC revealed his company’s motivation behind the gesture as well as the number of beneficiaries.
“This is our first time to give out food packages to the community. We did all this so that we could help the community with the little that we have. We have donated food hampers to 161 people in Diki village,” he said.
Sthembiso Sibanda, one of the beneficiaries, hailed ZZCC for the timely donation given the prevailing harsh economic conditions.
“The organisation has exhibited remarkable oncern for the people in the community by way of this generous gesture. We have received mealie meal and cooking oil and this is what every household needs the most. This is a very good gesture and we are so grateful,” said Sibanda.
Another recipient who only identified herself as Mrs Ncube, said the latest donation will go a long way in providing relief in the village whose food insecurity is there for all to see. She praised the non governmental organisation for showing so much love for the people in the community.
“My grandchildren and l are going to benefit immensely from the food given to us. May the Lord bless ZZCC for such love for such love for our people. We hope other companies can follow suit and help communities within which they operate,” she said.
Chief Mekatande gave an impassioned vote of thanks.He encouraged the organisation to keep on rendering assistance to the community whenever possible.
“The generous gesture demonstrates the prevailing unity and care for our community. We hope the company can continue supporting the community,” he added.
