Siziba arrested in connection with BF violence

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) House of Assembly Member for Tshabalala-Pelandaba, Gift Siziba was arrested yesterday allegedly for inciting the violence that rocked a  football match pitting Highlanders and Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium.

He was later released after being booked for a court appearance on Friday.

How Siziba instigated the violence is not immediately clear. He had posted a picture of himself wearing a Highlanders kit on the day of the match that saw skirmishes after the match officials turned down appeals for a penalty from the homeside which was trailing 0-2 at the time. The fans invaded the pitch and attacked police officers who ran for cover leading to the match being abandoned.

“The regime has intensified its crackdown against our members after a shambolic, disorganised, rigged and fraudulent election. This continued persecution must stop,” CCC said in a statement.

Siziba’s arrest comes hard on the heels of the arrest of another CCC MP Maureen Kademaunga of Sunningdale in Harare who was arrested on charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property but was later released after the court found no evidence linking her to the alleged crime.
