BULAWAYO – Nhlonipho Nyathi, a Rhumba artist whose stage name is Manyanyatha, has released his fourth album titled ‘undofa yingqondo.’
The album is made up of six IsiNdebele songs, namely ‘bhantinti’, ‘birthday’, ‘Ekufeni’, ‘Abasemnyameni’, ‘Imali’, the title album title song, ‘Undofa yingqondo’ and one Setswana song ‘Lerato.’
Speaking to this publication, Manyanyatha said the song ‘Undofa yingqondo’ is meant to teach people to desist from maligning successful members of society and labeling them as witches and wizards because it is not always the case.
“The song ‘Undofa yingqondo’ is meant to demistify the thought that every rich person is involved in something occultic or dodgy. This painting of people with the same brush is unfortunate because some people are successful on account of their sheer hard work and diligence,” said Manyanyatha.
His first album was ‘Isithwathwa,’ released in 2015 which was followed up by ‘Iso Lentwala’ in 2016, then came ‘Sigiya nge Rhumba’ in 2017. In 2020 he released, ‘fihla makoti’ and the latest ‘undofa yingqondo,’ was released last week.
Early this year, he collaborated with other Rhumba artists that included Prosper Bafana Mcebisi, Handsome Kamanga and Garamtata Rhumba giant, Mxolisi Ndlovu popularly known as Mr Bones and they released a single track by the name ‘Bathengisibindi.’
Manyanyatha has recently relocated to South Africa but was born and bred in the Ntale area in Plumtree.
Meanwhile, Mothusi Ndlovu whose stage name is Madlela Skhobokhobo is billed to perform in South Africa alongside Skhosana Buhlungu the ‘isomiso’ hit maker later this month.
The two Nkayi artists will be at Hillbrow Theatre on 30 October 2021, belatedly celebrating the ‘Big Boss’ Martin Sibanda’s birthday. Martin was born on 8 October 1971 in the Tjidiwe area under Chief Ndolwane in Plumtree.
“We are ready for this event and I would like to urge all our fans who are in South Africa to attend. Skhosana will perform first, followed by me and then Martin will close the event,” said Madlela.
Madlela said going by fan reaction on social media platforms, people just cannot to see Skhosana performing as he described him as the man of the moment.
