Notorious armed robbers nabbed

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo has arrested an eight member gang that has allegedly been terrorising residents.
According to Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube, the eight were arrested yesterday after police received a tip off on the whereabouts of these men.
The accused have been identified as Limkani khuphe (38) of Rangemore, Brendon Moyo (25), Witness Macebo (27) both of Lobengula West, Benefit Vhudzi (37) of Mbundani, Isheunesu Nhliziyo A.KA. Scanda , Nyapo Ndlovu (26), Limkani Dube (32) and Lungisani Mpofu (24), all residing in Cowdry Park. Their apprehension ended a week-long police manhunt for the gang.
“Circumstances are that on 06 May 2023 the group took away property worth $870 USD, 5000 rands and ZWL 47 000 after gaining entry into a house in Rangemore and breaking windows to gain access to the main house. They were reportedly armed with a pistol, machete, sjambok and knives and went on to search each room while threatening and assaulting the inhabitants, demanding money and valuables. The complainants were compelled to surrender their cellphones that included an Iphone 6, Itel 36 and 37 pro, a Spark 8c, a pellet gun, 2000 rands, 220 USD, ZWL 47 000,” said Ncube.
It is also alleged that on 28 April 2023, the gang forced open a door of another complainant in New Luveve after they had knocked and demanded to see one “Brighton” whom the complainant professed not to know as there is no one by that name in his house. Upon entry, they hit the complainant with a machete demanding money and valuables before they rounding up all the six occupants of the house to sit in the sitting room. One gang member is reported to have grabbed a female complaint, pointed a knife on her throat and forcemarched her into the bedroom where the gang took away $177 USD and 50 rands, a Samsung 32 inch TV, an Open View decorder, an Itel 33, a Samsung A12 and a Hauwei Y9.
During interviews with the alleged robbers, police established that the robbers had targeted a house belonging to an illegal forex dealer ( usphatheleni) but somehow missed the target and robbed the wrong house.
Insp. Ncube applauded Bulawayo residents for constantly assisting the police in solving crimes in the city through providing leads and links.
