Baby kidnapped at Plumtree Hospital, Police Launch Manhunt

A seven-day-old baby boy was abducted yesterday afternoon at Plumtree District Hospital in Matebeleland South, Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Matebeleland South is investigating the case.
According to Inspector Loveness Mangena, the provincial police spokesperson, the infant’s 22-year-old mother had gone for a routine checkup with her baby. While waiting, she spoke to a stranger who claimed to have a son admitted at the hospital and asked the mother to buy bananas for her from a vendor by the gate.
“The mother left the baby in the care of the stranger who disappeared with the baby,” Inspector Mangena said.
The suspect is described as a slim woman, around 26 years old, wearing a green top and a pink skirt. She has brown skin complexion.
“We are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in locating the missing baby or the suspect to contact their nearest police station,” said Inspector Mangena.
