Parliament ejects 15 CCC MPs

Sengezo Tshabangu’s recalls have taken effect as Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda has declared vacant the seats held by 15 CCC MPs that were recalled by the former.
Mudenda wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) announcing the vacancies despite party leader Nelson Chamisa advising the speaker to disregard Tshabangu’s recalls earlier in the day.
While declaring himself “interim secretary general’’ Tshabangu recalled a total of 15 MPs and 17 councillors claiming that they had ceased to members of the CCC.
13 of the affected MPs, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, Bright Vanya Moyo, Velisiwe Nkomo, Jasmine Toffa, Sitabile Mlilo, Pashor Raphael Sibanda, Nicola Jane Watson, Eric Gono, Evidence Sunungurai Zana, Morgan Ncube, Obert Manduna, Janeth Dube, Desmond Makaza have since approached the High Court over the matter.
CCC maintain that Tshabangu is not a party member as he does not appear anywhere in party records.
