Teenager up for attempted murder

LUPANE-A 19-year old Lupane teenager has been arrested and is facing a charge of attempted murder after allegedly axing a 15 year-old on the head.
The unfortunate incident happened on the 10th of June 2022 around 19:00.
According to sources, the complainant, who cannot be named to protect his idebtity, arrived home to a complaint by his younger sibling to the effect that the latter had been assaulted by Njabulo Dlamini. In a fit of rage the complainant armed himself with an iron bar and made for Dlamini’s residence. Upon arrival, the 15 year old confronted Dlamini leading to an altercation that resulted in the complainant striking the accused with the iron bar on the chest. In retaliation, the accused took hold of an axe which he used to strike the complainant once on the head before fleeing the scene, leaving his victim lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
The complainant was taken to Lupane Clinic and was later transferred to St Luke’s Hospital for further treatment and is reportedly on the mend.
Matebeleland North Police Spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda corroborated the sources’ account and added that Dlamini of Dakiwe Village in Lupane has been charged for contravening section 47 of the Criminal Law and Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9 which deals with attempted murder.
Inspector Banda appealed to members of the public to desist from using violence in solving disputes.
“Whenever there is a misunderstanding, members of the public should not get even by engaging in violence. They should engage third parties for dialogue and arbitration and if that fails, they should allow the law to take its course,” he said.
