Terrible storm hits Kezi

The joy of receiving rains following a long dry spell was quickly shattered as the rain turned, violent destroying property in its wake, in Kezi this past week.
On Wednesday at least two families had their huts destroyed by lighting in Kezi.
Villagers who spoke to Community Podium said such occurrences were quite common in their area particularly during the rainy season.
Mr Moyo of Malindi village said that what started as a drizzle ended as a terrible storm.
“The lightning was so intense and fierce that you could see it even with eyes closed”, said Moyo.
“The thunder was so loud that we thought the sky would fall on us”, added Mrs Sibanda of Mangala Village.
Another community member from Mangala village, Mr Donald Ncube said his hut was struck and burnt down by lightning for the second time in a space of three years.
“My hut was struck and destroyed by lightning and this is not the first time that this has happened .The same thing happened three years ago when my hut was struck down and burnt by lightning”, said Ncube.
Mr Jim Ncube was also left homeless as two of his houses were torn down by the fierce winds.
This occurrence is a repeat of what happened in the same area five years ago when strong winds brought down a house and two minors died on the spot while two survived.
A young man who declined to be named called on the community to unite and seek divine intervention.
“People in our area should come together despite their differences and or their status and pray for good rains that will not destroy the people, infrastructure and animals” he added.
