Tshabangu threatens to recall more CCC MPs

Citizens  Coalition  for  Change  (CCC)  MPs’ hangs in the  balance as self-styled interim secretsry general Sengezo Tshabangu threatens to recall more legislators should they heed party president Nelson Chamisa’s call to “disengage” from parliament.

In his latest communication, Tshabangu  said CCC MPs  who boycotted  parliament  and were ejected  earlier this week  must report back in parliament after the six-sessions suspension imposed by Speaker, Jacob Mudenda. The legislators were suspended after protesting the recall of fellow MPs by Tshabangu. Additionally, their two-month salaries were docked.

” Any CCC member of the Senate  or National Assembly who does not comply  with  the foregoing will  be recalled without  further  ado and be redeployed from Parliament or their local authority. According  to  Parliament  Hansard , CCC members of the National Assembly were as a matter of fact and law suspended   for six settings with emmediate effect which equates to six  weeks  of sittings, once this suspension  has been served, all CCC  National Assembly members and also members of the senate must attend parliamentary  programmes, activities  and sittings without fail, save in circumstances  seeking or requiring  verifiable medical attention or compassionate  leave. Members of  the  Senate  should continue  to attend all Parliamentary  programmes , activities  and sittings  without fail,” wrote Tshabangu.

Tshabangu’s threat is a response to Chamisa who said his party MPs and councillors were disengaging from parliament until the 15 CCC MPs  who were recalled by Tshabangu reinstated.

 “We disengage from Parliament and from Council until this issue is resolved and when I say disengaged, we have not said that they have withdrawn. They are disengaged meaning that no business shall be transacted until a remedy and justice is done.”
