Zanu PF threatens to repossess cars using police

ZANU PF losing party candidates who have not heeded the call to return campaign vehicles to the party risk the humiliation of having the cars repossessed by the party through law enforcement.

Reportedly, some parliamentary candidates have not responded to the call despite repeated requests from the party. 

In a notice dated October 5, 2023, Zanu PF secretary for transport for Harare province, Munyaradzi Nyamukondiwa, warned that the party would explore legal means if the candidates do not play ball.

“Those who did not surrender party vehicles as per instruction risk the embarrassment of the vehicles being repossessed through police,” the notice read.

 Zanu PF doled out 210 brand new branded vehicles to its parliamentary candidates for the 23 August Harmonized Elections. 

Through the party Secretary General,  Obert Mpofu, the ruling party instructed the losing candidates to return the vehicles to the party headquarters without fail.
