Good Samaritan appeals for help in taking care of blind couples

A 62 year-old widow of Chinotimba township in Victoria falls who has been taking care of two blind couples and their children is seeking assistance to ensure that they live decent lives.
Sibusisiwe Tshuma who is originally from Lupane has been housing the couples for free and she has even built them plastic rooms.
A concerned community member, Mr Obert Dube who shared the issue on behalf of Tshuma and the couples said the first couple has two children and is expecting a third one soon.
Dube, who is also an award-winning poet said the wife and the children do not have identity documents.
“The man, Syamaleke Mwinde (49) is from Siyachilaba Binga while his wife Rebecca Shoshore is from Norupiri Gutu in Masvingo province. Shoshore does not have a birth certificate and a national identity card. She is also pregnant and almost due for labour but she does not have preparation material at all.
Materials needed include; Latex gloves (15 pairs), Steri gloves (5 pairs), line savers (4), cotton wool (500g), stepping (50 mm), syringe 3mm (2), needle 23 (2), chronic cutgutt size 2 or 3.
“The couple has 2 children, Tawana (7) and Junior (4) who are both not going to school because of financial challenges and they also do not have birth certificates and do not even have baby cards or baby records,” said Dube.
Dube also said that the couple was struggling to cope with the effects of COVID-19.
“They live a begging life and due to this pandemic, things have drastically changed as they told me that they sometimes go for two days without eating,” he said.
He added that: “A 14 year-old daughter of the second blind couple from Siyachilaba is also not going to school as a result of financial challenges.
